CS2D General High Latency

6 replies Sorry if it's just another high latency topic, but I think it's kinda weird here. At first I thought it was just how latency in CS2D was, but after playing in college I noticed latency at home is really bad.
In CS I can find servers with latency of less than 40 quite easily but in CS2D the lowest I can find is over 200. So I think it's not my connection, since a different game can work way better.
When I played in college there was a lot of servers with green latency, one of which I played for some time. I tried to find that server one day later at home but it wasn't even yellow, the latency was rated as red. So I think it's not location either, since college is around 2 blocks away from where I live.
I tried disabling firewall, turning off antivirus guard, closing random background processes... Nothing changed. My specs:
CPU: Intel Celeron 2.66 GHz
RAM: 496 MB (Onboard Video Card)
OS: Windows XP Professional SP2
Firewall: Windows XP Default
Antivirus: Avira AntiVir Personal
Internet: 500 kbps Download/100 kbps Upload You even told us your Antivirus. 
Well , it actually depends on how far you are from the server hoster. I , for example , am from Bulgaria and i have the same problem and i will never be able to play with less than 200 ping , becouse the server hosters are on the other side of the world.. lol. It's dependent on the distance of your router to the internet central.
I'm having a fiberglass cable so my ping is always very low! same, when i was in holliday i had alot lag so high ping but when i came back to my hause i just had like 20/40 ping. 
the ping is bullshit.when i made a new gameserver on my vserver he has latency 400 and above!every hour the ping is going to be better in that list.but in the server it is ALWAYS 20.and the list shows 400.i always must wait some days.then i have green latency at my servers.it realy goes me on my nerves.and i dont know what to do against this.
my tip for you: dont look after latency.list server by players or name.i do that,too.then join the server and watch on tab what is YOURE ping at this server. Well, you never know if your antivirus got some bug with the game... But if distance was the problem, wouldn't playing from 2 blocks away bring the same results? Or it depends on the location of other things but where you're playing?
By the way, I'm from Brazil and I've seen Brazilian servers, yet none of them are green. Or do Brazilian servers require a connection to another country?
About the wrong latency possibility... I tried that, sadly the latency was correct. I think someone with a little more time than I should open up a packet sniffer while running cs2d 
but other than that it may just be that cs2d takes up alot of bandwidth, maybe its packets are inefficiently structured. Because I also have this problem when garrys mod or something plays fine, and i'm on a wireless connection. So obviously something is kinda wrong, although i'm really sure no-ones gonna bother to fix it.
