in cs1.6, you can record gameplay without the usage of external programs by using console commands. the gameplay can then be played back at a later time, using cs1.6 (not a media player or whatever).

would it be possible to include this into cs2d?

That would be nice. but for now i got an alternative. If you have enough gigabytes to waste, press F5 rapidly and FAST! Then, put those together in a nifty slideshow that goes ten pictures per second or something.

fraps takes up a lot of space... and it also causes some in-game lag, regardless of recording fps.

the f5 thing doesn't work, considering that it takes like 2 seconds for each screenshot alone.

He said INTERNALL! I used Fraps and it lagged up my computer REALLY bad. and i can take 2.3 screenshots per second.

It works in HL1/Source engine games because of the way the engine is made, CS2D would probably have to have a complete re-code for the command "demo" to work.

blehhhhhhh
but isn't it possible, for each frame, to record all the information used to render that frame? i mean cs2d's graphics aren't too complex since it's 2d

Yes, it is, you could save each frame as a different bitmap in a folder and then you could put it in a video using some program.
Otherwise, I think DC would have to include some new libraries to CS2D making the .exe size bigger/including new .dll files

You could also just store the map, and the players actions in the .video file. And then when u want to rewatch the video, render it all back But then, you couldn't save it as AVI or wav.

To make it not lagg, it would be possible to (as YellowBanana said) just save the positions, angles and weapons of players and their shots. Then, after the game has finished, you get the option to "compile" it (render the video) and save it.

But we have to wait for the lab to be back on with suggestions. Closed.

the replay/demo feature is/was planned. it's not sure if it will ever be implemented. it would be possible though (just a matter of work).
