What is the situation on a new version of CS2D to officially update the current 0.1.0.1b? The reason I ask is, well because cs2d needs updating, and also becuase I would like to know if there would be a possibility of including some of mine and others' high-quality maps as official maps in an official update of cs2d. I don't mean to brag or anything, but I feel that some of my recent submissions of custom maps (on FPSBANANA.com) are quite good and would be enjoyed by cs2d players everywhere if included in an official cs2d update. What is everyone's, and especially DC's, thoughts on this matter.

If you have never played/seen my maps before, here are some links:

there will be no update for cs2d. There will be a completely new version but it will take me several months to do that. But I will have a look at your maps and consider to put some of them into the archive of the "new" cs2d when its done. However: They look really good.

Although, in that case, what will be the compatibility situation with current cs2d maps and the new cs2d? From news I have heard, CS2DMax (?) will be a completely remade cs2d with BlitzMax which makes me unsure of compatibility.

cs2d maps will work with the new cs2d(max). But MAYBE not all entities will be exactly like in cs2d so that minor changes will be necessary. However I will try to make it as compatible as possible.

There should be an auto map download, so you could just download the map from the server your playing from. This would make the updated version a lot better.

hi, its about counter-strike in 2d ... not both and not cs: source..

edit: they're talkin about things like auto map download when they connect to a server ( like in cs: source ) and in the new cs2d noone knows if this feature will be in it...

Do you want use in cs2d the same tile size, or use an bigger like cs-X. you said the old maps will work in the new version, does that mean you dont change the tile size?

thats right. the tile size will not be changed and the most graphics will not be changed too. But I'm going to change the interface/menus and it's planned to improve the graphical effects like explosions, smoke, firing guns and so on.

However thats only planned and I can't say much about it and I don't want to tell wrong things too - so better don't ask about the new cs2d now.
