Yes, it's been edited with photoshop as 175,000 (fortunately) said through the formspring (Saves us the work from checking the file's metadata)
However, I don't think it's made of two pictures, there's probably something weird with her eyes, since both are almost identical (even light refraction seems to be the same)

Judging by the length of the sound I think it's 4 letters. Also, a little correction - I think it wasn't on the home page, but on one of the other pages. Unfortunately I can't tell which one as of now, I will later.

I'm guessing what they did is maybe they took one side of the face (let's say the right one) and mirrored it, so we have a face that has identical eyes and stuff like that. Maybe.
