Basically, YouTube and every other art site has it, you see something that you really like, and you click the little star and "adds it to your favourites", which then shows in your favourites on your page in the favourites section.

I was thinking that US.de could do with this by adding an extra list on a user's page beneath his/her US.de file submissions, titled "Favourites", showing the files that he/she added to his/her favourites.

That way those who are well known skinners can check out other well known skinner's favourites and find pretty cool things that they might have missed.

*edit* lololol grammar.

Perhaps even a counter to the submission as a little statistic, to show how many people really like the submission in question.

And even if it got abused lol it would be pretty obvious.

*edit* Such as "RamboFox's favourites" appearing beneath my submissions, but above the rule violations box (not that I have any, lol)

@TheDarkHammer:
DC is far from lazy, TheDarkHammer, I will say that. He is a university student ( AFAICR ), so he has to study. And inbetween studying, he develops the games we all know and love.

@RamboFox:
How is it supposed to be abused? If there is a little list on your profile showing what you like.. what is wrong with it?

That sounds great, it really anoys me if i am trying to find good files, it sometimes shows files with just 2x5/5 ratings and that should be the best file?

Its also good to find your favorites very fast

Also a nice part, because somtimes you accidentally delete a file you meant to rename, etc and you want to get it back without searching for like half an hour.

the number of favs would count. that's something different but yeah of course there would be the "risk" that every idiot favs every file... that would be very stupid.

Even with that "risk" it would only be one idiot as opposed to several normal people favouriting one really well done submission. It would still result in that submission floating to the top of the most favourited pile.

Additionally, if it were to be implemented, the creator wouldn't be able to favourite his own submission, lol, that and we need another counter on a userpage such as "x amount of users favourited this user's submissions", somewhere along with the average rating box.

And Yates? I'm not sure, I reckon it could be seperated into catagories within favourites (such as favourite CS2D skins/maps/scripts, favourite Carnage Contenst skins/maps/scripts, etc).

there is just one problem,all ratings get lost

if its possible you could count every 5/5 rating as a "like"

No, ratings in a review and the favourites system would be separate.

Additionally, this favourites system would promote creating content that would appeal to many, aka: Make better content. The more people like your content, the more it gets favourited, and the higher it will be in the correct category's favourite rating pile.
It would enable a user to see the best of the best and download/rate those too, essentially making great submissions greater, while the ones that are on the other hand crap, go under the pile, to be forgotten, as punishment to the user who submitted the crappy submission.
