I just want to hear different experiences of people.
For me, I wanted to be a programmer in the future when I was younger, so I decided to start off with something simple and easy to understand. I found CS2D 2 years ago, and I knew that lua will be the first scripting language that I'm going to learn and master. I'm still learning now, and I'm still not really good at it because of so many distractions (games, youtube, facebook, school, social life(even though I don't have a lot of friends because I have been in the US for less than 3 years ), etc) . Also, please give me tips and advices that could make me get better at scripting if you have any.

He means that he learned scripting by looking up the functions of other scripts. Actually, I did the same. I also looked up different commands in the internet. It wasn't very hard to learn. Actually I can just tell you to either look up TKD's CS2D Lua scripting beginner tutorial or to look at scripts and taking them apart, when you want to learn Lua!

I have learned many scripting and programming languages before, when DC decided to put Lua into cs2d. Since we had to test it before this cs2d version was released, I learned Lua very fast, because as soon as you are able to programm or script in some languages, learning new ones is pretty easy.

I too learned Lua by looking at other scripts + the Lua user wiki. It was the first (and so far only) language I mastered - it took me around 2 years but it was worth it.

The only advice I can give would be: set yourself goals that are difficult to achieve and achieve them, only that way will you ever master something.

I don't know when I've started Lua. I guess when I made my classes script edit. It sucks.

Then there was the MedievalMod I guess. It was pretty easy Lua. When something didn't work out well, I asked here and I guess that's how I've learned Lua.
