And actually not under 500$, under 700$, or 600$

Thats complete bullshit, you don't have to buy a fucking 1000$ tablet if you're a beginner.

Its about the artist and not about the god damn tablet. Sure, it improves the workflow a lot if your tablet got an own display and some super fancy functions but saying that you can't get a good tablet below 500, 600 or 700$ is just dumb (especially when you're just starting off).

Weird Pals are drawn in Adobe Flash. They are vector graphics and I made use of Flash's pressure sensitivity and automatic vector smoothing. I also used vector graphics because they are easier to color. There's also a semi transparent texture overlay to make it look like paper.

I didn't use my Wacom Cintiq 24 HD to draw them because I did not have it yet at that time. Instead I used a Wacom Graphire 3 pen tablet. It's only A5 and without a screen. The Graphire 3 was about 200€ when I got it. Wacom launched the Bamboo series later - take a look at those if you're searching for good and affordable pen tablets.

That was around 2011/2012 (I bought my Wacom Bamboo Manga around that time, retailed at SGD 215 but costs me SGD 205 due to membership discounts). Now Wacom has the Intuos series of tablets out. Cheapest goes for SGD 110.

The ones I have had under the price I mentioned always seemed to bug out, stopped drawing or drew a line in a completely different direction because the touch sensitivity of the product was off.

If you really want a good one, go expensive with this kind of stuff. It's so nice to rest your arm without worrying something will fuck you over like your sleeve with this kind of stuff. Cheap ones use pressure sensitivity and magnets. Expensive ones tend to use USB hubs which I find faaar better.

The best ones are obviously the ones that can extend your PC or act as a screen, not just a drawing touch pad.

This is so fucking wrong, you don't need that kind of gear to draw. A basic drawing tablet such as Wacom Bamboo would do. Looking at your monitor while drawing is very fine if you're not a dumbass. I paid around 150$ for my tablet which doesn't have a screen, and it works quite well.

A drawing tablet with screen would be necessary for paintings and major projects.
