I just want to ask: What is the best program, photo editing software for creating sprites ?

I normally use paint.net, but that somehow doesn't work, the spaces that *were* transparent, aren't transparent anymore when I saved it.

If you know a good really good photo editing software, please tell.
Or if I could save correctly with paint.net and you know how, please tell.

You have to use magenta(255,0,255) color for transparent area(s). You may still try to delete the selected places you want to make transparent if the image type is .PNG.

The best program is actually the one you completely know so far. Such CS2D sprite/skin makers use GIMP, Paint.NET or honestly MS Paint. I prefer you should use the one you currently use and improve yourself at it.

@user Masea:

Thank you for your response !
I just was a bit confused why I didn't work, I used the Magic Wand tool that wouldn't do anything at all to a bitmap image, tried to fill the background with both white and black, because that's how are the original sprites working somehow
