You mean it doesn't work when using the 'bark and branch' action?

I have been able to make fire with the action combo several times. I am using the most recent update of the game. From what I understand, there is about a 30% chance of making fire. Which means that you may have to try several times. You obviously cannot make fire with this method while it is raining, however I have noticed that it is unusually difficult to make fire the day after it rains. I'm not sure if that is a bug, or just being true to reality.

As far as the clay bucket, I have had no trouble with this at all. The only thing I have seen is that when you drop the water bucket, it kinda looks like a bottle, but it functions as it is supposed to. I really think it would be cool if you could drink from the bucket. Maybe this would drop you thirst meter more than a normal bottle of water, or other liquid.

I also seem to remember, that when you build a fire place, it's possible to start a fire but it will only last for a couple of minutes. It's always best to go ahead and add some fuel, like fat, bark, branches, cotton, etc.

Can you make the auto-pickup grab charcoal too? When the food burns I can't take the charcoal so it gets stuck there.

You don't have to throw the food/metal directly onto the grill/forge, it'll still work if you toss it on the ground close enough to the fire.

Also, when I throw a machete/scythe blade at the ground near the forge, it disappears, but a pickaxe blade doesn't.

What if, instead of completely banning wells from higher dfficulties we re-design them? I personally see two ways. One, making each use of the well a matter of probability, basing the latter on the amounts of uses the well had that day. So, on the first use you get water with 99% chance, on second - 70% and so on (the figures are just here for illustrative purpose). Maybe while not providing water the well could provide something - mud, clay, pebbles, something like that.
Two, making the supply in the well limited. However, this would require quite a bit of coding, otherwise the best strategy would be to "spam" wells all over the place. So the global amount of water in all the wells must be limited and constant, no matter how many of them there are.

you can, but the well isn't infinite

They've been fixed, but the version they are fixed in isn't released yet. I'm still working on other changes.

what about the one in page 46? that is the least glitched release... isn't it?

i played the one on page 46 and it's great, well with some minor glitches such as unable to fill bucket of clay with water from water container
