im looking avatars in U.S. . everyone has nice avatars but theres some personal avatars.
i think personal avatars will be add a great background.
Example:

Look my avatar, gasmasked man is my personal avatar. Background is red (i think its not looking cool for Unreal Software )

And look DC s avatar. he has a personal avatar too and look to the background on DC's avatar.

Maybe its for Unreal Software. there are many ppl using this background(changin colours)
You can add this background or logo (etc.)
its looks cool in unrealsoftware.de !

gamma = transparent

but why then "alpha" mean transperent in gfx's editors ?
