You aren't the first one and unfortunately you aren't the last one either.

Just Google around a little, take a look at the included samples and you'll do fine. Everyone here has done that and they all managed to master it one way or another.

And what I meant to say but forgot to explicitly write is that you won't find anyone who wants to invest their time in teaching a random guy how to script using Lua.

You should just investigate it yourself, that might be even easier than a tutor of some kind.

have a look into /sys/lua

there you can find some samples (editing is simple - Notepad)
