hud = head up display, always in-game
gui = graphical user interface, menus
Anyways I just scribbled all over it and played for a while until it showed me its the rank shading.

May be talked about image which cann hud_shade.bmp? Type in game "rank" and see red or blue line on rank`s top. It`s hud_shade.bmp
