So, I was at school, surrounded by rumours of a "zombie" attack in Russia. Something about biological warfare.

I'm sorry, but humans could not possible be ripped apart that easily. The zombies would have to be super-human ( lol? ) to do that. Literally, they just took his limbs off as if they were attached with velcro!
