No I'm not, do you even know javascript? If you did you would know that javascript is not able to do any of that stuff. It can't access your files or folders, it can't interact with your browser and it can't take cookies that your browser isn't sending over.

----

Bottom Line: No websites have the ability to access your files and passwords.

It can only interact with the cookies you are sending over, means if the cookies don't belong to them they are not sent over.

--> I would much rather have Lee or DC come in here to say this, seriously. They knows this crap better than anyone here. <-- I agree with that.

In some applications they ask you to 'copy and this like (of javascript) into your URL to see this amazing video'. When you do it, not knowing what you just did, it can give your facebook password and lot's of shit. The thing is that later it sends stuff to your friends. Such as URL, infected URL's(-->Which lead you to viruses and shit... no need to explain again. ).

EDIT : Wrote this yesterday but posted today, I see that you already agreee with that lol...

The whole point is that because of the exploit you can reveice a link. You'd probably click it trusting your friend and fall into a trap. What I think is that Jela331 isn't telling us something. No way you can get a virus by replying to a Hi. -->Maybe after you say Hi it send you a link -.- ?

Facebook also has keyloggers throughout the website and externally aswell but who can bother with that stuff anyways? lol, it's not really difficult to NOT press something right? that should be the 'new' security tip for you people out there.

Well, HTML5 has some security issues, it can access local files and so on, but nevermind.

Javascript can:

Dynamically edit what's on the webpage
Send data and receive data from the server
Read cookies (Note, and this is important: Cookies are associated per website. The browser will only send cookies that have been set by that website)
Perform mathematical operations, store values [in variables]

It cannot execute any code on your harddrive, store or change anything on your harddrive, or in any other way interface with your harddrive. If you're getting a virus, it's from an exploit in a browser, and/or not Javascript.

Redirection is also not a virus.

PHP:

<?php
     header("Location: http://google.com");
?>

Javascript:

<script type="text/javascript">
window.location = "http://www.google.com/"
</script>

HTML5 does have issues, but ultimately it's the client side that sends of the the data. So if you're running a browser like IE (NO ADDONS!!), firefox, chrome, opera, etc you will be fine.

@ BloodShot : I didn't say it's a virus. What I meant was that javascript can be used to send scam links. By scam I mean those pages ( Which you will go to after clicking the link) that go like 'you have a virus download...', or 'you won ...', can be all simply be a direct download link for an .exe file or something similar. You get the point now?

@Textual Context: When did I speak about redirection or HTML5 ?

Now speaking about it, this making my example to Bloodshot even clearer (Thank you Textual Context), supposing your script was correct the following can be done :

1
2
3
<script type="text/javascript">
 window.location = "http://www.whatever.com/blah/virus.exe"
 </script>

HTML5&SWF were directed @ KimKat...

and no

1
2
3
<script type="text/javascript">
window.location = "http://www.whatever.com/blah/virus.exe"
</script>

Doesn't work lol, you still need to click save, as well as opening the executable.

If the virus (-_-) is a plugin, like JavaScript, if the browser enables automatic execution, then well, it might do harm.

3
<script type="text/javascript">
window.location = "http://www.whatever.com/blah/AVGantivurus.exe"
</script>

If your friend sent that to you, you wouldn't say no. So you will most probably click save and execute it. Lot's of things are possible when you don't have an antivirus. Could be also something which executes itself who told you lol? Self extracting archives exist too. +What Sunny autumn said ;p

That is 100% true, please don't make false facts about java script.

On the other hand if the browser is stupid enough to automatically execute java, silverlight, etc then yeah probably. (BTW Flash doesn't count because adobe does a pretty good job keeping it to browser only.)

And self exes I believe require an ini and only run from a flash drive (yeah flash drive key loggers lol), CDs, etc, you know removable media.

A self exes? What the hell is that...

A self extracting archive can be used. Which is independent and extracts itself.

What I'm saying here that your tiny brain won't understand is that all the javascript will do is send a link to your friends in chat NOT that the javascript is a virus you retard.

Yeah a link is pointless, as I said before in my earlier posts it is impossible for websites to download anything. Unless you click save and run the executable.

Self extracting archives are also pointless because you could just download it with the exe and not in the zip. You still need to double click on the exe though.

I am going to say this one last fucking time :

Anyone smart enough to Know randomly downloading stuff can get you viruses will know that "Hi!(Shitty link) Blah blah blah" is a obvious attempt at virus transfer

AKA Everyone except Jela311, his sister, his 7 friends, Dev1las and Joeldahero

Oh, and Textual Context, though it's "Trying to act like a smartass"

You only* said it once, so why is 'one last time' your choice of words? That is like posting "Are you even listening to me?" even though you haven't posted/said anything in the past.
