Then you don't know C++. It's not even a scripting language. I lol'd.

Max-Russia cannot into C++. 'Nuff said.

BTW, Batch/SHell are essentially scripting languages since they are interpreted, not compiled into machine code.

Anyway, I know: Lua, PHP, Java ( most hated.. but had to do almost all my under-grad practicals in it thanks to 'regulations' ), PAWN ( meh.. not so well and I have only used it like six times ) and I am lightly initiated with Squirrel.
EDIT: Oh, and Batch and SHell.
AAH JOO NINJA'D ME!

Scripting language. SCRIPTING. LANGUAGE.

C++ =/= Scripting language
Java =/= Scripting language

Lua == Scripting language
HTML, CSS, XML, PHP, MySQL - I guess those are scripting languages kinda? Do markup languages and other various almost-programming ones count?

I know those and I'm beginning to learn Java when you ask me about non-scripting ones.

The syntax of java is actually very close to C++ and PHP if you ask me.

Oh and who knows objective-c here?

Java is interpreted, so it sorta falls under the category of 'scripting languages.'

Mark-up languages aren't really scripting languages since they are designed to either represent data or give a style to data ( when it is displayed ), not take an input and give an output.

PHP and SQL are scripting languages under the assumption that they are interpreted and are used to do something, as in you can write a Lua/PHP script to edit CSV files, but you can't write some XML and do the same thing. Obviously, SQL is also incapable of these things, but only because it is designed to be used to create tables and enter data.

EDIT: @user Apache uwu:
ME!! Alas, Objective-C isn't a scripting language since it is compiled to machine code. Oh well, it's a crappy, hard-to-read language anyway.

@user Sparty: That was sarcasm right? XD--no but seriously you should read the previous posts.

@topic-again: Usually scripting languages are extremely loose--used at client side, and "interpreted" by the client/user. That makes scripting languages very easy to use :), better languages are those that are strict, and should be able to compile to native or p-code.

Java is a language which doesn't really fit into both parts. It's neither completely a programming language nor completely a scripting language. It's really wonderful though

I don't count HTML/CSS to scripting languages, because they don't give you the possibility to interact. They are not really interpreted, they are just... shown. SQL is not really a scripting language, it's just a Query Language.

That being said, I know Lua, php, a bit of phyton, a bit of ruby, and some other stuff...
