I used to believe that too.
0.999 != 1, but 0.999... = 1, because 0.999... means infinite nines after the "." Infinite is so huge that 0.9 = 1 , if you use the 9 infinite times
Navy Seal: This is a point which was studyed and worked on A LOT and many math freaks and mad scientists said that 0.9999 = 1 many other ppl. deny that
If I'd fill in 0.99999~ = 1 in a maths test, the teacher'd change it to ≈ anyways.
