@user Hurri04: Yes, it will be possible to have one object with multiple colliders (as children) to generate more complex collision geometry and it will also be possible to somehow register which part has been it or had a collision. I'm not sure about changing the size of colliders with scripts but it will probably be possible.

@user pupp3tStudios: Who cares about debug mode and how many colliders you see there? Totally doesn't matter. It's just a debug mode and not the actual game how it looks like in normal mode.

@user pirate of island: Which soundtrack? I concentrate on more important things at the moment. I don't care about music for the game right now.

@user pirate of island: Yes, probably in the end of development.

@user Greenhawk: No, the source code of the actual game (which indeed is C#) will not be exposed (closed source). The game is modded with a definition language (basically like the definition language in SII but a bit advanced) and Lua scripts.

@user Globetrotter: It's not easy to answer this question because I want to keep certain quality standards and for graphics it's even more complicated. You can't simply mix random models and textures of different artists if you want to achieve a good looking game where all the visual stuff goes well together. I'm generally open for this though. Most of my games contain community created stuff even in the vanilla versions (light engine, weapon skins and maps in CS2D for example or some of the weapons in CC) and I don't think that Stranded III will be an exception.

I can't see point in stealing it.

If you think open-sourcing a project means people will steal the code, you are wrong on many levels.

3. If you want to mod it, it is also possible.

But only within the limits set by the programmer, which can be quite cumbersome and will slow down some really cool mods.

@user Rainoth:
A well-administrated server should never be replaced by inferior systems of protection.

@user DannyDeth: I never said anything about it. I just noted that it's easier to make something for a game, when you know how it's coded. I'll agree that having a server that people watch over is better than having a good protection. Any kind of protection can be by-passed, but you can never by-pass a human x)

@user Rainoth: There can be ten thousand hacks, but if the server is well administrated, none will matter. The server doesn't even have to be particularly well administrated with some server-side sanity-checks. Using cheats as an excuse to close your source is pretty pointless.

Any serious weakness like the USGN being broken by open-sourcing means that the system has been poorly designed. Security through obscurity has been shown to be a bad idea.

Please don't use this thread for a open vs closed source discussion! Fact is that the game will be released as closed source. This is because it's easier to develop manipulated/hacked versions when having the source code (especially client sided hacks like hacks which add additional visual information which can't be prevented at all) and because I simply don't want to share something that I worked on for hundreds or thousands of hours. At least not directly and completely on/before its release. Note that Stranded I and II were closed source as well but became open source later. This was a less critical step though because they have not multiplayer mode.
